Profile
As Project Manager Engineering-Validation-Maintenance (EVM), you are part of the engineering group. You play a crucial role in the success of the EVM Project Portfolio by supporting the rollout and execution of EVM projects. You are responsible to deliver high-quality end-to-end project results, meeting the internal partner needs. You will manage your assigned projects and you play a crucial role in managing our partner.
You will work closely with the other EVM teams and internal partners in order to provide engineering services to the business and enable excellence in a safe, high quality and continuously improving R&D organisation.
Furthermore, you will help shape the future of the project management process as they are in the process of shaping the engineering portfolio management process to fulfil the increased business demands. You will play a crucial role in this exiting journey.
Furthermore, you will:
- Be accountable for the deliveries of assigned projects (e.g.: End Of Life projects of technical systems (HVAC, production/lab equipment, water/gas systems, etc.), lab/clean room refurbishments, technical feasibility studies) in such a way that projects are completed on-time, within budget and in accordance with the required quality;
- Review and approve project management and technical documentation (Project letter, Project plan, URS, planning, Risk assessments, cost calculations, resource planning, etc.);
- Support project lead when needed;
- Act as project manager in accordance with RACI process;
- Focus on continuous improvement for the project management system;
- Support setting up the annual Capex budget and controlling it throughout the year;
- Set priorities of Capex projects and align them with the departments involved, constantly assessing, and improving the efficiency of the processes within the engineering team, so that the technical assets and the resources are optimally utilised;
- Provide project management training to EVM team & project contractors (incl. onboarding project contractors);
- Organise the PMS Training and give guidance to internal customers when needed.
Who we're looking for
The ideal candidate has a B.Sc. or M.Sc. in Mechanical, Process or Electrical Engineering (or equivalent education) with at least 4 years of experience as project engineer/project manager in an engineering/technical environment. You have experience managing multiple projects and working on and/or leading multi-disciplined teams or workgroups. Knowledge of pharmaceutical manufacturing (GMP) and a Project Management certification are highly advantageous. Additionally, you have experience with Lean methodology and you are able to see issues from multiple viewpoints.

Department
The Engineering-Validation-Maintenance (EVM) department (> 35 persons) is a motivated and dynamic team responsible for the technical support of all utilities, production and laboratory areas and all involved equipment at the Janssen Vaccines & Prevention site in Leiden.
They work in a challenging environment where they make great progress in commercialising their vaccines. The Engineering group has a large Capex project portfolio to sustain/improve the existing environment/infrastructure. The Compliance group looks after the correct qualification and validation status of GMP critical equipment and processes. Furthermore, the compliance group is responsible for the overall quality and safety programs within EVM. The key-focus point of the maintenance groups (U&B, Automation and Equipment group) is asset maintenance management of all assets within Janssen Vaccines & Prevention.
